FastCopy is a file management tool that dramatically increases copying and pasting speeds. While your computer is probably fast enough with smaller pasting projects, this program helps when you're pasting larger files like videos, databases and images. It has a simple user interface that anyone will be able to use after just a few minutes.

Basic Features

FastCopy is a file management and transfer program that is capable of copying and moving files faster than your computer normally can. Many people use the copy and paste feature on their computer. This is very fast when you're copying something small like a single document or even a sentence from one document to place in another. It gets slower though if you're trying to copy and paste a folder or larger movie file.

A program like FastCopy speeds up this process. While estimates vary, this program is about twice as fast at copying and moving documents. That's a huge time save when you transferring hundreds of megabytes or gigabytes.

Another time save occurs when bad files are found. Normally your computer will stop the entire pasting process when a bad file comes up and will demand your attention before going back to work. FastCopy skips over these files until the end so that all the other files can be copied and moved without slowing down the process.

User Interface

The user interface is simple for the most part. While there are some confusing features best left to advanced users, the basic feature of copying and moving files is very simple. Simply select the "Copy/Move Option" listing, choose the directory to be copied, tell the program where to place the files and it will get to work. There is no maximum size, so you can do this with folders that are incredibly large.

If you stick to the basic features, then you'll find that FastCopy is a simple program that anyone can use. This should only take you minutes to learn and you'll find that it's very useful. If you try using the other features like Drive Setting, Shell Extensions and Log Settings, then the program becomes a little more involved. The good news is that you don't need to play with these features if you don't want to.

Checking the Log

If you're moving larger files, then you probably want to keep track of which files were already moved and where they were placed. Copying the file again could take a lot of time. FastCopy has a detailed log that shows all the actions that were performed.

The log not only shows which files were copied and when, but it also shows if the transfer properly happened. Sometimes files are corrupted or there is an error when transferring them. The log will show if this happened. You can use this if a file seems to be missing or if you're not sure if something was copied already.

Poor Help File

Most programs come with documentation or a help file that can answer questions for you. These documents are often good if you are having problems with a tool or if the interface is confusing. FastCopy's help file tends to be on the cryptic side. It doesn't give you much information. Not only that, but it seems to be written more for advanced users.
